Get going with the letter G — a great consonant that growls with the /g/ sound, just like "goat"!

This Letter G display card is a must for any early years alphabet display. Featuring the hard /g/ sound as in "goat", this card supports students in connecting the letter G to its most common sound. Like the letter C, G can make two sounds (hard and soft), making it a fascinating letter to explore — and this card gives you the perfect starting point with the hard /g/ sound.

The formation of G starts like a C before adding a horizontal line into the centre — a fun challenge for developing handwriters that builds on letter family knowledge.

Why teachers love it:

  • Hard G focus — anchors the /g/ sound as in "goat" for solid phoneme-grapheme mapping
  • Formation connection — the link between G and C formation gives a great teaching opportunity for letter families
  • Visually appealing — bright, classroom-ready design that pops on the wall
  • Full set compatible — sits beautifully alongside the complete alphabet display card range

Perfect for:

  • Classroom alphabet displays and word walls
  • Phonics teaching focused on the hard /g/ sound
  • Prep, Foundation, and Year 1 literacy programmes
  • Letter of the week activities
  • Literacy corner and reading area displays

What's included:
A single printable PDF alphabet display card for the letter G, featuring upper and lowercase forms and a hard /g/ sound keyword image.

Get that G on your wall and watch phonics confidence grow!
