Thirty Christmas jokes your Foundation students have to add and subtract their way into — and they will not notice they are doing maths.

30 Christmas Riddles Foundation turns the last weeks of term into number-fact practice your students volunteer for. Each of the ten sheets holds three festive riddles, a sixteen-slot code strip and a grid of sums — work out each answer, find it in the code strip, write the letter above it, and the punchline appears. Sheets 1 to 5 are addition and sheets 6 to 10 are subtraction, all within 20. Addition keeps both numbers inside ten and makes ten first to reach a teen number, and subtraction stays gentle — the number you take away is never more than five.

Because the letters have to spell something, the sheets mark themselves. A wrong answer gives a letter that makes nonsense of the joke, so students go back and check without being told to — and you are not marking 274 sums by hand.

What if my file isn't printing correctly?

ZIP FILES:
If you're experiencing issues with printing, first check the file type. If it's a ZIP file, you'll need to unzip or extract the contents before printing.

How to Open a ZIP File:

1. On a Windows Computer:
   • Right-click on the ZIP file.
   • Select "Extract All..." from the dropdown menu.
   • Choose the location where you'd like the extracted files to be saved.
   • Click "Extract" to uncompress the files.
2. On a Mac:
   • Double-click the ZIP file.
   • The contents will be automatically unzipped into the same folder as the ZIP file.

Once unzipped, you'll be able to access all the files contained within the ZIP archive.

PDF FILES:

For PDF files, especially those with many graphics, the file may display correctly on your screen but not print as expected. To resolve this, make sure you're using the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader to open and print your PDF.

1. Open the PDF in Adobe Acrobat Reader.
2. Click "Print."
3. In the "Page Sizing & Handling" section, select "Shrink oversized pages" if needed.
4. Click "Advanced."
5. Check the "Print As Image" box.
6. Proceed to print your document.
