Find out exactly where your Year 2s are with Australian money, in two pages.

This Year 2 money assessment is built on the Australian Curriculum v9.0 (AC9M2N06). Students count, order and match collections of real-looking coins and notes, choose the money to pay for an item, then solve three short money problems with plenty of room to show their thinking. Every amount is whole cents up to $1 or whole dollars, so it sits right in the Year 2 range.

What students show they can do:

  • Count a small collection of coins and notes
  • Order collections by value (numbering four piggy banks from most money to least)
  • Find a group with the same value as a $1 coin and a $20 note
  • Circle the coins and notes to pay for a 60c pencil and a $7 book
  • Solve money problems, including working out change

Why teachers love it:

  • Curriculum-aligned: a teacher notes page links each section to AC9M2N06 and explains what changed from v8.4
  • Quick to mark: 15 marks, with a full answer key for both pages
  • Spots misconceptions: notes on what to watch for, like counting coins instead of their value
  • Print and go: clear, uncluttered A4 pages that work in colour or black and white

What's included:

  • Teacher notes: curriculum alignment, what each section assesses, what to watch for and a marking guide
  • 2 student assessment pages
  • 2 answer key pages

Perfect for pre- and post-unit checks, reporting evidence and maths rotations in Year 2.
