24 missing addend word problem task cards with a picture on every card, in our soft pastel palette, with a full black-and-white set, a student recording sheet and an answer key. For Years 1 to 3.

Each card tells a short, everyday story with one number missing, such as "There were 15 children at a party. 9 were girls. How many were boys?" A matching clip art picture helps students picture the problem, then they write the number sentence and find the missing number.

The cards sit four to an A4 page with cut lines and crop marks, and each card has a big numbered circle that matches the recording sheet, so it's easy for students to keep track.

What's included:

  • 24 colour task cards with clip art, four to an A4 page
  • 24 black-and-white task cards for low-ink printing or coloured card
  • Title cards in four colours (and black and white) to label your task card tub, bag or case
  • Student recording sheet with a box for each card and a learning intention: "I can solve word problems that have a missing number."
  • Answer key showing the number sentence for each card, with the missing number highlighted

Why teachers love it:

  • A picture on every card to support early readers
  • Builds the link between addition and subtraction: students choose which operation to use
  • Fits a photo case: each cut card is about 14 × 9.5 cm, so it slips into a standard 4 × 6 inch photo or craft storage case
  • Low prep: print, cut and go

Perfect for:

  • Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3 addition and subtraction units
  • Problem-solving and number sentence practice
  • Maths rotations, centres and small groups
  • Scoot or task card walk-around games

Can I print in colour or black and white?
Yes. The pack has a full colour set and a full black-and-white set, so print whichever suits you. The black-and-white cards look great on coloured card.
