Christmas Village Craft | Printable 3D Paper Houses
Five gingerbread-style houses your students colour, cut, fold and glue into a Christmas village that stands up on its own.
The Christmas Village Craft is a set of five printable 3D paper house templates for Australian primary classrooms. Each house prints on a single A4 page as one flat net — four decorated walls, two lattice roof panels, a base and clearly labelled glue tabs — so there's nothing to match up across pages. Students colour the walls flat, cut around the outline, fold on the dotted lines and glue the tabs, and a little house stands up on the desk in front of them.
Every house is a different shopfront with its own character peering out: the Bakery with a gingerbread chef and a window full of biscuits, the Sweet Shop with lolly jars and a gingerbread girl juggling candies, the Reindeer Stable with two reindeer looking over their stable doors, the Elves' Toy Workshop with elves building a toy train, and Santa's Cottage with Santa waving from the window and a sack of presents by the tree. Line them up along a windowsill, cluster them on a table under some cotton-wool snow, or send each one home as a Christmas keepsake.
Because the walls are clean black and white line art, the colouring is the point — no two villages come out the same, and the lattice roofs and scalloped icing give even quick colourers something that looks finished.
Why teachers love it:
- One page per house — print, colour, cut, fold, glue; no multi-page assembly
- Five different houses — enough variety for a real village, or give different tables different buildings
- Labelled glue tabs and fold lines — younger students can follow the net with minimal help
- Doubles as a display — the finished village makes a Christmas table or windowsill scene for the last weeks of term
- Stretches across year levels — Foundation colours and glues with support; Years 3–4 decorate in detail and build independently
- Photocopier friendly — clean black and white, no heavy ink, no grey fills; prints beautifully on white card
Perfect for:
- Christmas art lessons and Term 4 craft afternoons
- Fine-motor practice — colouring, cutting on a line, folding and gluing
- Classroom Christmas displays and tabletop villages
- Fast finisher and early finisher tasks in December
- Relief teacher folders and the last week of term
- Gifts and keepsakes to send home with students
What's included — 5 printable A4 pages:
- Bakery — 3D house template with gingerbread chef
- Sweet Shop — 3D house template with gingerbread girl and lolly jars
- Reindeer Stable — 3D house template with three reindeer
- Elves' Toy Workshop — 3D house template with three elves
- Santa's Cottage — 3D house template with Santa, tree and stockings
How to make it:
- Print on white A4 card (160–200gsm holds its shape best; plain paper works too)
- Colour the walls and roof while the page is still flat
- Cut around the outer solid line, keeping the glue tabs attached
- Fold along every dotted line, then glue the tabs in order: walls first, then roof, then base
Build the whole village over a week of art lessons, or hand out one house per student for a single festive afternoon. Either way, your classroom ends the year with a Christmas scene the students made themselves.
