Australian Money Sort | Coins, Notes & Totals Matching Game (Years F–3)
Cut, mix and match: a money game your class can play again and again.
Australian Money Sort is a set of matching cards with real-looking Australian coins and notes. Students match each coin, note or collection to the card showing its value. Play it as a straight match, as a memory game or as a quick sort for early finishers. Three sheets take students from naming coins and notes through to totalling collections with dollars and cents.
The three sheets:
- Coins and notes (F–2): all 11 Australian coins and notes matched to their value, plus a $1 coin matched to 100c
- Year 2 totals: 12 collections to total, using whole cents up to $1 or whole dollars (AC9M2N06)
- Year 3 totals: 12 collections with dollars and cents together, like $4.05 and $22.50 (AC9M3M06)
Why teachers love it:
- Pitched by year level: pick the sheet that suits each group, or run all three in one rotation
- Built to be cut: 24 cards per sheet on a dashed cut grid, with no card sitting next to its own match
- True-to-size coins: every coin is shown at its real size next to the others, so the gold $2 really is smaller than the 50c
- Quick to check: an answer key for every sheet
What's included:
- Teacher notes: how to play, Australian Curriculum v9.0 links and the misconceptions to watch for
- 3 card sheets (72 cards)
- 3 answer keys
Perfect for maths rotations, partner games, early finishers and money revision in Foundation to Year 3.
