Australian Money Game - It's All About the Money! Board Game (Year 1, 2 & 3)
Roll, move, collect — and count your stash! It's All About the Money! is a print-and-play Australian coin board game that turns money practice into the maths rotation your class begs for.
Players race around the board collecting Australian coins as they land on them, dodging the FINED! squares (hand back your highest value coin) and hoping for STEAL! (take a coin from a friend). When the timer goes, everyone tallies their coins on the Count Your Stash sheet and adds up their total — the most money wins. It's coin recognition, comparing values, skip counting and adding, all hidden inside a game kids actually want to replay.
Why teachers love it:
- Real Australian coins — 5c, 10c, 20c, 50c, $1 and $2, drawn in true proportion so students learn the sizes as well as the values
- Works across Year 1, 2 and 3 — younger players recognise and collect, older players add and compare totals; add a second dice or a target total to stretch them
- Built-in recording sheet — the Count Your Stash sheet turns the game into written maths: tally, how many, total value, my total
- Maths rotations-ready — 2–4 players a board, 5–10 minutes a round, and a How to Play page so groups can run it themselves
- Print once, play forever — laminate the board and coin cards, or play with plastic Australian coins
What's included (6 pages, A4):
- How to Play page with set-up, rules and "make it harder" ideas
- The It's All About the Money! game board (prints on A4, or enlarge to A3)
- Coin cut-out sheet — 6 of each coin for the bank
- Count Your Stash recording sheet (black and white, photocopy-friendly)
- Cover and Terms of Use
Perfect for: Year 1, 2 and 3 money units, mixed-ability groups, maths centres, early finishers, relief teaching and homeschool.
