Australian Money Coins and Notes Task Cards
See it in real life
16 Australian money task cards for counting collections of coins and notes, with a recording sheet and answer key. Every coin and note is drawn to match the real money, so students practise with the money they actually see.
Each card shows a collection of Australian coins and notes. Students count the collection, find the total and write it on their recording sheet. Some cards are coins only and some mix several notes with coins, so there's a good range of totals for students to work through.
The cards sit on our soft pastel grid, with a big letter on each card that matches the recording sheet, so it's easy for students to keep track.
What's included:
- 16 task cards (A–P), four to an A4 page, with cut lines between the cards
- Recording sheet with a box for each card and a learning intention: "I can count collections of Australian coins and notes."
- Answer key for quick marking
- Cover page to use as a label for your task card tub or bag
Why teachers love it:
- Looks like the real thing: coins and notes are illustrated to match current Australian money, both coins and notes on the same cards
- Every answer is different: totals range from $4.30 to $220.50, and no two cards share an answer
- Coins at their real relative sizes: the $2 coin is smaller than the 10c, just like in a real wallet, which is a great talking point
- Low prep: print, cut and go. The recording sheet and answer key are black and white for easy photocopying
Perfect for:
- Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3 maths units on Australian money
- Counting and adding collections of coins and notes
- Maths rotations, centres and small groups
- Scoot or task card walk-around games
- Early finishers and money revision
Pair with our Australian Money Posters & Flashcards for a complete money wall.

FAQS
Where is my download?
Check your inbox (and junk folder) for the email from Mrs Edgar with your link. You can also log in to your account at mrsedgar.com.au and download it from your order.
It came as a ZIP file — how do I open it?
On a Mac, double-click it. On Windows, right-click and choose 'Extract All'. Your PDF will be inside.
Can I print in black and white?
The recording sheet and answer key are black and white already. The task cards are designed in colour, because children recognise coins and notes much more easily in colour.
