Back to School Scavenger Hunt
Turn your new class into a team of explorers — with a scavenger hunt that makes settling in an adventure.
This Back to School Scavenger Hunt gets students up, moving, and learning their new classroom environment right from the very first day. Students work to find clues, discover classroom features, and connect with their new teacher and classmates — all while having an absolute blast.
It's the perfect icebreaker activity that feels like pure fun but is quietly building classroom community and familiarity with routines.
Why teachers love it:
- Gets students moving — a welcome change from sitting still on a big first day
- Builds classroom familiarity — students learn where things are while having fun
- Community-building in disguise — students work together and start making connections
- Completely no-prep — print and it's ready to run
Perfect for:
- Day one and week one of the new school year
- Settling a new class into their environment
- Prep through Year 6 with appropriate support
- Fun, purposeful movement breaks
- Relief teacher days with an unfamiliar class
