Animal Classification Table
Make science classification simple and structured with this ready-to-use animal classification table.
Teaching students to classify animals is a core science skill, and this Animal Classification Table makes it clear and manageable. Students record key characteristics and sort animals into groups — vertebrates, invertebrates, mammals, reptiles, birds, fish, and amphibians — in a structured table format that develops their scientific thinking and recording skills.
Why teachers love it:
- Science skill focus — builds classification and data organisation skills in a meaningful context
- Structured table format — gives students a clear framework for recording information
- Curriculum-aligned — supports Australian Curriculum Science: Biological Sciences
- Print and go — no prep needed, just print and hand to students
Perfect for:
- Science units on animal classification and living things
- Year 3, Year 4, and Year 5 biological science lessons
- Research and inquiry tasks on animals
- Guided science group work
- Note-taking and science journal activities
