Bring figurative language to life with vibrant, ready-to-display student posters.

This set of Figurative Language Student Posters takes the mystery out of literary devices and puts the learning front and centre — literally! Designed to brighten any primary classroom, these posters give students a clear, visual reference for each type of figurative language as they read and write.

Each poster features a clear definition along with an easy-to-understand example, making complex concepts accessible for upper primary students. Pin them to your literacy wall, use them during your writing block, or display them near your reading corner for instant support.

Why teachers love it:

  • Crystal-clear definitions — each device is explained simply without overwhelming students with jargon
  • Engaging examples — memorable, relatable examples help students actually understand and apply each device
  • Classroom-ready design — colourful and visually appealing, they look great on any literacy display wall
  • No-prep printing — print, cut, and display — it's that simple

Perfect for:

  • Literacy display walls and writing corners
  • Introducing figurative language in a whole-class lesson
  • Student reference during independent writing tasks
  • Reading comprehension discussions and text analysis
  • Year 3–6 English units covering language features

What's included:
A set of printable student posters covering key figurative language devices including simile, metaphor, personification, alliteration, onomatopoeia, hyperbole, and more — each with a definition and example.

Give your students the visual support they need to recognise and use figurative language with confidence.
