Personal Goals
Guide students to set real, meaningful goals for themselves with this structured Personal Goals resource.
Goal setting is a skill that serves students well beyond the classroom — and it needs to be explicitly taught. This Personal Goals resource gives students a clear, supported framework for identifying what they want to work on, why it matters to them, and what steps they'll take to get there. Whether you use it at the start of the year, each new term, or tied to a specific learning focus, it sparks genuine reflection and student ownership of learning.
Why teachers love it:
- Builds student agency — students take ownership of their learning through genuine goal setting
- Structured and scaffolded — clear prompts guide students through the goal-setting process
- Versatile timing — use at the start of the year, each term, or any point where a focus reset is needed
- Supports wellbeing and growth mindset — connects personal goals to effort and progress
Perfect for:
- Start of year and start of term goal-setting activities
- Student portfolios and reflection activities
- Year 2 through to Year 6 classrooms
- Personal and social capability lessons
- Parent-teacher interview preparation activities
What's included:
A printable Personal Goals template to guide students through reflecting on where they are, where they want to be, and how they'll get there — in academics, behaviour, or personal growth.
When students know what they're working toward, they show up differently — start that conversation today!
