Science inquiry that gives students a real framework for asking questions and finding answers.

These Science Inquiry Templates are a practical and flexible set of printable planning and recording resources for Australian primary school students in Years 2–6. Designed to support the Science Inquiry Skills strand of the Australian Curriculum, these templates guide students through the scientific process — from forming a question and making a prediction, through to conducting investigations and evaluating results.

Whether you're running a whole-class experiment or having students design their own investigations, these templates give every student the scaffolding they need to think and work like a scientist.

Why teachers love it:

  • Curriculum-aligned — directly supports the Science Inquiry Skills strand of the Australian Curriculum
  • Scaffolded for independence — clear prompts help students work through the scientific process without constant teacher guidance
  • Flexible — templates work with any science investigation, not just specific topics
  • Zero prep — instant download, print and hand out

Perfect for:

  • Years 2–6 Australian primary classrooms
  • Science inquiry and investigation planning tasks
  • Australian Curriculum Science lessons across all strands
